Worth knowing before you commit
- Indian nationals need no visa and can enter on a passport or voter ID — a passport is far smoother.
- Monument-area entry fees are charged per site in Kathmandu and are not usually in package prices. Ours lists them as excluded.
- Kathmandu to Pokhara is 6–8 hours by road on a route often under repair; the 25-minute flight is worth it on a short trip.
- October–November and March–April are the clear-mountain windows. Monsoon means you may see nothing from Sarangkot.
Common questions
Do Indians need a passport?
Indian nationals can enter on a passport or a voter ID; a passport is far smoother at the airport. No visa is required.
Fly or drive to Pokhara?
Drive is six to eight hours on a road that is often under repair. The 25-minute flight costs more and is worth it if your trip is under a week.
Others people compare this with

Kashmir, Family Pace
A houseboat, the Gondola, and enough slack in the plan that a bad-weather day doesn't wreck the trip.

Himachal for Two
Riverside stays, Solang for the snow, and Kasol for a couple of days where nothing is scheduled.

Maldives, Overwater
One island, one villa, and nothing scheduled. Resort choice does all the work here, so we spend the time on that.
