Worth knowing before you commit
- Rohtang Pass needs a separate permit and a rotation quota; Atal Tunnel to Sissu does not, and is usually the better day.
- Snow activities at Solang are sold by local operators at the site — negotiate, and never pay before the activity.
- Manali to Kasol is 3.5 hours on a narrow road; it is not a day trip.
- The Delhi–Manali Volvo is 12–14 hours. Flying to Bhuntar saves a day each way.
Common questions
Will there be snow?
Rothang and Sissu hold snow into April most years; Solang is patchy after March. If snow is the whole point, book December to February and go to Sissu, not Solang.
Is Kasol worth adding?
If you want cafés, a river and no sightseeing agenda, yes. If you want things to see and do, skip it and put the two days into Manali.
