- A private houseboat on the Alleppey backwaters, not a shared cruise
- Tea estate walk in Munnar with someone who actually works the estate
- Periyar by boat at first light, which is when anything is drinking
- Two nights minimum per base — the whole point is not to be packing every morning
A suggested shape
A starting point, not a fixed plan. Every day here can move, stretch or go.

Kochi
Fort Kochi, the Chinese nets, and a Kathakali performance if you want one.
- 2–3
Munnar
Up into the tea. Mattupetty, Echo Point, and a long afternoon doing nothing.
- 4
Thekkady
Spice plantation walk and a sunrise boat on Periyar lake.
- 5–6
Alleppey
Board the houseboat by noon, drift, eat, and moor for the night.
- 7–8

Marari or Kovalam for the last two nights, or fly out from Kochi.

Common questions
Private houseboat or shared?
This is priced for a private one-bedroom boat. Shared boats are cheaper and we can quote them, but on a honeymoon almost nobody is glad they saved that money.
Is monsoon a bad time?
June to August is genuinely wet, and the hills can be socked in for days. It is also half the price and the tea country is at its best — a real trade, not a bad one, if you like rain.
Others people compare this with

Golden Triangle, Unhurried
The standard circuit, run at a pace that doesn't reduce the Taj to a 40-minute photo stop.

Andaman, Just the Two of You
Radhanagar at sunset, a reef dive if you want one, and ferries booked in advance so you aren't queuing at the jetty.

Rajasthan with the Family
Three forts, one desert camp, and drives broken up so nobody is in a car for six straight hours.
