Questions people ask before booking

How rough are the roads really?

Between Batal and Gramphu there is no road in the sense you are used to — it is riverbed and loose rock, and it takes hours. If long rough drives are a problem for you, this is not your trip.

Is there phone signal?

Only BSNL works reliably in Spiti, and Chandratal has nothing at all. Assume you are offline from Nako onwards.

Why does this only run in summer?

Kunzum La is under snow from October to May, which closes the circuit. A winter Spiti trip exists but it is an out-and-back to Kaza, not this.
