What this trip is built around

  • Four Ranthambore safaris — the number that turns a tiger from luck into likelihood
  • Canter or gypsy, with zone preferences requested at the time of booking
  • Keoladeo at Bharatpur by cycle-rickshaw, which is the right way to bird it
  • Ranthambore fort inside the reserve, usually empty in the afternoon

A suggested shape

A starting point, not a fixed plan. Every day here can move, stretch or go.

  1. 1

    To Ranthambore

Train or road from Jaipur/Delhi, evening at leisure.

  2. 2–3

    Safaris

Four drives across two days, morning and afternoon.

  3. 4

    Fort and onward

Ranthambore fort, then drive to Bharatpur.

  4. 5–6

    Keoladeo

A full day birding by rickshaw, then Agra or Jaipur to fly out.

Worth knowing before you commit

  • Safari zones are allotted by the forest department's online lottery. Nobody can guarantee a zone — treat any such promise as a warning sign.
  • The park is closed on some Wednesdays and for the monsoon (roughly July–September).
  • Morning safaris are colder than people expect from November to February. Bring a cap and gloves.
  • Keoladeo is best birded on a cycle-rickshaw with a licensed naturalist — walking it misses most of it.

Common questions

Will we see a tiger?

Over four safaris in the productive zones, most groups do. Nobody honest will promise it. If a guarantee is what you need, no park in India can give you one.

Can we choose our zone?

You can request. Zones are allotted by the forest department's online system, not by the lodge or by us, and requests are not always granted.
