Kashmir or Himachal in October — which one should you actually book?

Both destinations are genuinely good in October, and the honest answer depends on what you're optimizing for. Kashmir in early-to-mid October still has clear valley views and thinner crowds than the summer peak, but Gulmarg's Gondola Phase 2 is weather-dependent and can close on short notice once temperatures drop.

Himachal — specifically the Shimla-Manali corridor — runs a more predictable October, with the monsoon fully cleared by the first week and snow still weeks away at Solang. Group departures in this window have run without a single reroute the last two seasons.

If the priority is a guaranteed itinerary with no weather-driven changes, Himachal is the safer late-October pick. If the priority is Kashmir specifically and the group can tolerate a Plan B on Gondola Phase 2, early October still delivers.
